Dr Tom Reynolds from Cambridge University's Engineering Department is giving the BA Isambard Kingdom Brunel Award Lecture at the BA Festival of Science in Dublin
Dr Tom Reynolds from Cambridge University's Engineering Department is giving the BA Isambard Kingdom Brunel Award Lecture at the BA Festival of Science in Dublin this Friday - one of the UK's biggest science festivals - and we can all hear him, thanks to Cambridge University Science Productions. They are broadcasting a series of distinguished popular lectures from the Festival, and will be webcasting Tom's lecture on Friday at 12.45pm. Tom is a representative of the Cambridge-MIT Institute's Silent Aircraft Initiative and will be talking about "The future of civil aviation: the approach of the Silent Aircraft".
The lecture will introduce the audience to why we need a silent aircraft, how we perceive sound, why aircraft are noisy, and how we can modify the design to produce a dramatic reduction in noise. Dr Reynolds will use practical demonstrations that are accessible to everyone in order to explore the proposed silent aircraft, the problems in trying to reduce noise and the benefits that this aircraft has over conventional aircraft.
The Lecture will be webcast live: to join it, visit http://www.cusp.org.uk/festival
